Breakups suck and we have all been there but how do you really know it’s time to try again at love? Here are some tips from a lady that has been through it a few times.
1. The Music Phase
After a breakup, it is normal to be sad, mad, and frustrated. Most of these feelings will go away with time and music is an easy way to express them while you’re working through them. Once you can get through a whole Taylor Swift album without crying you’ll know you’re going to be ok. If you’re still in the frustrated or mad phase I recommend Olivia Rodrigo or this F. U. playlist that I’ve curated for this situation.
2. Pinterest Motivation
Something I’ve been loving with the recent iOS widgets is creating an image carousel from a motivational board using the Pinterest widget. The photos can cycle through your favorite quotes with a new one each hour to match your aesthetic. When you tap on the widget it takes you to this motivational board with plenty of affirmations to remind yourself of how amazing you are.
3. You Are Doing Things for You
Post-breakup can be a toxic swirl of emotions where you just want to get back at them or grab their attention. You crave attention and sometimes turn to less than ideal ways to get it. Think about what you are hoping to achieve with that Instagram post or Snapchat story. Trying to get their attention is not worth your time or energy anymore! Instead, surround yourself with people who actually care about you. So you’ll know you’re ready for someone new when you can confidently say your actions are for you.
So Are You Over Them?
If you can get through this list pretty easily then I think you’re ready but remember these things take time. Make sure to get hugs each day and know that self-care is not just massages or shopping sprees; it’s taking a walk, talking to an old friend, and getting that fancy Starbucks drink because you always deserve it! You’ve got this xoxo
